As some of you may have known, I am not doing much for sports photography anymore. I backed off a bit to focus on my commercial photography and video work. That being said, I have always made myself available for the occasional sports assignment if my work is needed. One of those assignments was this past Thursday night while covering the UW vs CAL mens basketball game for USA Today Sports Images. Below are a few my favorite select photos.
It’s been awhile since I posted a real blog and not just an automatic post from my Instagram feed. So today I figured I would give an update to what I have been doing the past few months.
Since stepping away from USA Today Sports Images and not covering sports since the NFC Championship between the Packers and Seahawks, I have been focusing on commercial photography and videography.
In the mid 2000’s I used to mess with video a lot while traveling to motorsports events around the west coast. But after a few years of that, I focussed mainly on still photography which got me to where I am today.
As many of you know, companies have really started to lean towards video content for their websites, email blasts and social media channels. So to keep up with the times, I have been dipping my feet (a lot) back into the video word filming, producing and editing product videos. Boy have things changed, but its starting to come back to me very slowly.
I have always been an Apple computer guy (never owned a PC in my life) and used to work with Final Cut Pro back when I was working with video. Of course now that video is back in my life, I am working and learning Final Cut Pro all over again.
So to summarize what’s going on with me currently, I have been doing some commercial photography and a lot of commercial video work. But….. I am happy to say that I have recently signed on with Panini America, Inc and will be photographing a few of the Seattle Seahawks home games this season. I am really looking forward to catching up with fellow photographers once again on the field for my 5th years of photographing the team.
I had the opportunity to visit the Grand Canyon for the first time last week during a commercial photography shoot for ARB 4×4 Accessories (www.arbusa.com). All I can say is that the desert + Grand Canyon is such a magical place. I just wish I had more time to shoot landscape photography.
It was a great trip, met awesome people combined with great weather (a little sunburned) all resulted with awesome photos. I will defiantly have to plan another trip just for nature and landscape photography in the near future.
