This past week, New York Yankee shortstop Derek Jeter said goodbye to Seattle. Well, at least in a Yankees uniform. After announcing his retirement, this will be the last time he plays in Seattle (unless the two team meet in the playoffs, fingers crossed!). Yankees fans showed up in busloads. Although this is normal whenever the team plays in Seattle, it was a little different as a majority of the fans were sporting Derek Jeter gear and holding “Goodbye Jeter signs.”
I feel privileged that I had the opportunity to photograph the future hall of famer over the past 4 years while photographing the Seattle Mariners and I wish him luck in his future endeavors.
Below are a few of my favorite images from the two games I covered last week between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees including a few extra of Jeter.
Derek Jeter during batting practice prior to the game against the Seattle Mariners.
Macklemore takes a selfie before throwing out the ceremonial first pitch prior to the game between the Seattle Mariners and New York Yankees.
This past Saturday I photographed the Seattle Mariners as they took on the red hot Detroit Tigers at Safeco Field.
If you have already read my last post (Sounders FC vs Real Salt Lake) you would know that I am a little late posting this blog. However since I am late, I am happy to spill the beans that the win on Saturday over the Tiger sparked what is now a 5 game winning streak (as of Wednesday June 4th).
Unlike the Sounders FC game, I did not have to fight heat waves off the artificial turf so I had a few more keepers. Below are a few of my favorite photos from the game between the Seattle Mariners and Detroit Tigers.
It has been a busy week of MLB baseball photography. The Los Angeles Angels were in tow for a 4 game series in which I covered the first 3 of them. Below are a few of my favorite photos I made over the three games. Next up, Sounders FC soccer and Mariners vs Tigers MLB baseball, both today (May 31st).
