Hi everyone. We have rescued a young female border collie mix that was on her way to the pound because her family didn’t want her anymore. Now we are trying to find her a loving family with a yard to adopt her. Her family really only wanted a small puppy, so when she got older, they lost interest. Most of her life she was tied up to a desk in a small apartment via a small leash. We have taken her to the vet to be checked out and everything is fine and she is currently at the vet being spade and given vaccinations. Since she is a border collie, she is active and needs active owners with a yard. She is roughly 6 months old and in good health. She seems to like everyone she meets (a little shy at first) and bonds very quickly. She is semi-house broken. Amelia & I would love to keep her, but we don’t have the house for an active dog. Last night (Feb 16th) I covered my last University of Washington men’s basketball game as they took on the Arizona State Sun Devils in Seattle, WA. If you have had the chance to watch any of the Washington games this year, you probably have witnessed some incredible passing by Washington freshman Tony Wroten Jr. A good example is todays photo of the day. Welcome Michael Gspurning, Seattle Sounders FC‘s new starting goalkeeper.

Yesterday I was finally able to make it to one of the Sounders FC training sessions and also the last session in Seattle before they head to Arizona for a month. Because this was the first time I was able to attend training, this was also the first time I was able to see the new players like goal keeper Michael Gspurning. Although it will very hard to replace the retired Keller, I have a good feeling the Gspurning will fit in well and help the Sounders this season.

And now for the technical side of the photo for all you photo geeks. The training session was held at the indoor training center for the Seattle Seahawks and probably was one of the worse lighting situations I have photographed in. The lights were dim and as you can see, there were huge frosted windows on one side of the facility to allow in natural light. So to expose the players properly, you usually had an over exposed window in the background. Settings for this photo were: Nikon D700 + Nikon 70-200mm @ f/2.8 / ISO5000 / 1/800 shutter.

Happy birthday mom!

Today would have been my mother’s 48th birthday. We lost her almost 16 years ago to cancer, she was only 32. As the years progress, it gets harder to think that she never saw what kind of man I have become. It hurts to think that she never got to meet the amazing woman I married, her wonderful family as well as the new members of my family that came into my life since she passed, Martha, Korinne, Bailey and Evan.

It hurts to think that she hasn’t witnessed what I have accomplished. She was a die hard Seahawks fan and loved watching the Mariners (especially Edgar and the 1995 team). I also know if she was still with us, she would be the first to ask to carry my camera gear on the sidelines for every game that I covered, lol.

Happy birthday mom, we all miss and love you!

Today’s photo of the day is one of the first photographs I took with my first DLSR. The photo was taken while out on a drive with my father on the Key Pennisula in Western Washington. I can’t believe how far I have come since then. Enjoy!

With the “snow storm of the century” bearing down on us, I decided to dig up two of my favorite snow photos. These photos were taken at the Woodland Park Zoo in Seattle the morning after we received a few inches of snow. Luckily, some of the only animals that were active were the lions. Today’s photo of the day was captured during my coverage of the UW Huskies vs Seattle U Redhawks men’s basketball game on Tuesday Jan 10th, 2012. This was my first game assignment of 2012 and not the greatest. If the referees weren’t in my way of the shot, another player or the player making the play would be flailing his arms. It was just one of those games.

Next assignment, UW vs WSU men’s basketball this Sunday (Jan 15).
